Ram Dass – Here and Now – Episode 31 – Aging and Awakening

The nature of aging is change. We are fascinated by watching that which changes. When change starts to happen to who we think we are, the fascination turns into fear. We are living in a system that is out of balance; the zeal for independence and individuality has left us alienated from the structures of family, community and nature.

  1. Raghu, I am 29 years old, and I want you to know that we all have something to learn from all of these talks that you are helping to bring to us. You have great things to say yourself, and Ram Dass has much wisdom to convey, regardless of the topic. Please continue doing what you do.

  2. Wonderful story, Ram Dass on a boogie board. Enlightening and far more thought provoking than breakfast tv which I have replaced with these podcasts.

  3. I have enjoyed many of ram dass moments regarding ageing that were deeply meaningful. One reason is they reflect the reflection of our awareness on the continuum of time to timelessness and the precious gem of taking ourselves lightly. My physical age is 23 and it that period of time alone, with the assistance of cues from Ram Dass and others , that a close observation of change and the confrontation with impermance through death psychedelics or otherwise brings us into and maybe in moments through our timeline and ageing process,. Because of this for me these are deeply meaningful, and as Ram Dass comments at the end of one lecture, no matter what our age we can benefit by preparing ourselves to be with the changes.
