Excerpts From Usha Bahadur

  • Some people came with an objective or an attachment. One very rich woman came to Maharaj-ji with a big box of sweets for Maharaj-ji. She wanted to take the sweets for herself and her friends outside. She held out the box to Maharaj-ji so that when he touched it the sweets would become prasad. Maharaj-ji took the box and the woman would not let go. She held on and tried to pull them away from Maharaj-ji. But he pulled them back and then the woman pulled again. This happened again. Back and forth. Then Maharaj-ji pulled so hard that He got the box away from the woman. Then Maharaj-ji said, “You can go now.” The woman was so sad. Maharaj-ji started to distribute the sweets, but Usha said,”Maharaj-ji, You can’t do this. This woman will have a heat attack before she leaves and who will pick up her body?” So Maharaj-ji and Usha watched as the woman left the ashram and walked to her car. When she got in the car and had driven away, only then did Maharaj-ji distribute the prasad. They laughed and laughed.

  • Some young people were at Kainchi Ashram fooling around and talking loudly about their own things and interests… their own business. Maharaj-ji stormed out of His room yelling at them and chased them right out of the ashram. They ran out of the ashram and Maharaj-ji ran right after them yelling all the while. Even right across the bridge, He chased them. Maharaj-ji said the ashram is not a place for the worldly thoughts. That the ashram was a place where your heart and your thoughts were able to become one. That to go and stay at an ashram for a year was a way to ‘recharge you batteries’ and that after that you could go back into the world and do your work again, in the right way. This is why Maharaj-ji had many rules and inforced these rules very strongly.
  • A man was sitting with Maharaj-ji. Maharaj-ji didn’t give him prasad. The man said, “Maharaj-ji, you haven’t given me anything.” Maharaj-ji said, “I have given you darshan. Isn’t that enough?”
  • So many people were amazed that Maharaj-ji would already know the names of so many people who came to see Him. When the devotees asked Maharaj-ji why He could know their names, He said, “What? Do you not know your children’s names? The whole world are my children so I know their names. Do you think that because you have not seen your child in forty years, you forget their name? You have four children and you remember their names. I have millions and millions of children and I remember all of their names.”
  • Shortly before Maharaj-ji left His body, He said to Usha,”Soon I will get a new body. This body has become very old.” Usha laughed. She said that it never occured to her that Maharaj-ji would actually leave the body.

As told to Jai Ram

“When she got in the car and had driven away, only then did Maharaj-ji distribute the prasad. They laughed and laughed.” What I see is that it is ok for these folks to laugh at another’s ignorance and that is cruel. Then I see that they yell at young people. These people are not better than the self important preachers around here. That is not enlightment.

A DIRTY NAKED MAN AS A GODLY MAN when Christianity started achieving successes and spreading rapidly among the common people, the Church in its zeal to attract more and more adherents went on imbibing every evil that was prevalent in society. Thus, saint-worship replaced the ancient deities. Images of Christ and Mary began to be worshipped instead of the idol of Horus and Isis. Christmas took the place of Saturnalia. Christian monks began to practice every kind of occult art like curing the sick by amulets and magic incantations, taking omens and fortune-telling, driving out spirits, etc., as were prevalent in ancient days. Likewise, since the common people LOOKED UPON A NAKED AND DIRTY PERON WHO LIVE IN CAVE AS HOLY AND GODLY MAN. This very concept of saintlihood became prevalent in the Christian Church, and legends of their miraculous powers began to abound in the memoirs of the Christian saints.

    HINDU SCRIPTURES ALLOW NON-VEGETARIAN FOOD
Some Hindus think that it is against their religion to have non-vegetarian food But the fact is that the Hindu scriptures permit a person to have meat The scripture mentions sages and saints having meat. Hindu scriptures clearly mention that there is nothing wrong in having meat.
It is mentioned in Manu Smruti, the law book of Hindus! In chapter 5 verse 30 “THE EATER WHO EATS THE FLESH OF THOSE TO BE EATEN DOES NOTHING BAD! EVEN IF HE DOES IT DAY AFTER DAY; FOR GOD HIMSELF CREATED SOME TO BE EATEN AND SOME TO BE EATER”
Again next verse of Manu Smruti that is; chapter 5 verse 31 says “EATING MEAT IS RIGHT FOR THE SACRIFICE, THIS IS TRADITIONALLY KNOWN AS A RULE OF THE GODS”
Further in Manu Smruti chapter 5 verse 39 and 40 says
“GOD HIMSELF CREATED SACRIFICIAL ANIMALS FOR SACRIFICE… THEREFORE KILLING IN A SACRIFICE IS NOT KILLING.”
Again in Rig-Veda book 10 Hymn 28 verse 3 it says
“0 INDRA, BULLS THEY DRESS FOR THEE, AND OF THESE (MEAT) THOU EATEST WHEN MAGHAVAN, WITH FOOD THOU ART INVITED”.
    In Rig-Veda Book 10 Hymn 86 verse 13 says
“INDRA WILL EAT THY BULLS, THY DEAR OBLATION THAT EFFECTETH MUCH. SUPREME IS INDRA OVER ALL”
These verses indicates that Indra, a god of Vedic age, used to eat meat. Also another god of Vedic age, Agni, is referred to as “flesh-eater’ in Vedas. For example, in Rig-Veda bock 10 Hymn 16 verse 10 it is said
“I CHOOSE AS GOD FOR FATHER-WORSHIP AGNI, FLESH EATER, WHO HATH PAST WITHIN YOUR DWELLINGS”.
In Rig-Veda Vivah sukta book 10 Hymn 85 verse 13, it mentions that during marriage ceremony the guests were fed with the meat. it says
“IN MAGHA DAYS ARE OXEN SLAIN, IN ARJUNIS THEY WED THE BRIDE”
Atherva-Veda book 9 Hymn 4 verses 37-38-39 gives expression that cow’s milk and cow’s meat are most tasty among all other foods. It says
“THE MAN SHOULD NOT EAT BEFORE THE GUEST WHO IS BRAHMIN VERSED IN HOLY LORE WHEN THE GUEST HATH EATEN HE SHOULD EAT. NOW THE SWEETEST PORTION, THE PRODUCE OF COW, MILK OR FLESH, THAT VERILY HE SHOULD NOT EAT (before the guest)”
If you read Mahabharata Shanti Parva chapter 29, a story of greatness of a king called Rantideva is described It is said that he was very rich and generous, and used to feed thousands of guests. The paragraph reads as follows
“ALL THE VESSELS AND THE PLATES, IN RANTIDEVA’S PALACE, FOR HOLDING FOOD AND OTHER ARTICLES, ALL THE JUGS AND OTHER POTS, THE PAN AND PLATES AND CUPS, WERE OF GOLD. ON THOSE NIGHTS DURING WHICH THE GUESTS USED TO LIVE IN RANTIDEVA’S ABODE,TWENTY THOUSAND AND ONE HUNDRED KINE {COWS} HAD TO BE SLAUGHTERED. YET EVEN ON SUCH OCCASIONS, THE COOKS, DECKED IN EAR-RINGS, USED TO PROCLAIM (AMONGST THOSE THAT SAT FOR SUPPER) “THERE IS ABUNDANT OF SOUP, TAKE AS MUCH AS YOU WISH, BUT OF FLESH WE HAVE NOT AS MUCH TODAY AS ON FORMER OCCASIONS”
This shows that even after slaughtering 20,100 cows, meat used to fall short on some occasions.
Many more quotations can be given where non-vegetarian food is given preference compared to vegetarian food
