I read Ram Das’ Be Here Now in 1971 when I was 18 years old….it changed my perspective. … felt like coming home ….and at the end of reading this book something happened to me …. at the time I did not know what it was and how profound it would be ….but after my conscious state shifted to one of no identification with material objects…. deeper yet I even disidentified with all thought forms. It left me in a state of no thought …. and with this state also came a sense of not knowing…. no fear either …as I was totally ok with not knowing. The shoft was so disorienting though that I couldn’t identify objects…. simply couldn’t think of their names …or even mine ….yet a peace was felt. It lasted for aome time….. and gradually I gained orientation and memory and words. No one else noticed and I didn’t speak of this for perhaps 10 years and then very little. It took the following 40 years to gain a workable perspective on and articulation of what had happened to me and how that release from identification with my own thought stream…that timeless state…. how that satori showed me the seeds of what is possible. Over the years I have had that experience yet deeper and many times with a deeper understanding. I have come to understand that wisdom is living inside …it is who we are. That experience began the shift from object/ego consciousness towards an every deepening insight into the spiritual fact of who/what we all are. We are that which we seek…. pure light of Being. This is the first place I’ve told this story in this way. How fitting on an impersonal forum. Thank you Ram Das for the seeds of wisdom …
