Pete Seeger sings Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram

Share

“Today we remember Pete Seeger, an icon in both the folk music world and the realm of social activism. I never knew that he loved this particular bhajan – this is a very special song for those of us who were in India with Maharaji in the early seventies. I can remember Maharaji, at the end of the afternoon, telling us in English, ‘Bus has come!’ — that’s how we knew it was time to go up to the road to catch the bus back to Nainital. We would get on the bus, and the conductor would lead us in this chant for the entire 40 minute ride every day. This song always reminds me of those first days of being with Maharaji in Kainchi.”
