Ram Dass discusses the difference between compassion and empathy. In empathy there are still ‘two’. In compassion, there is only One. How you serve people, you look at people and see, “There is me”. That is compassion. Having compassion for somebody else means that you are merged with them and that you feel pain with them. That compassion comes out of the oneness of your heart. Compassion is self indulgent, because that is yourself.
