BIPOC Satsang: A Closer Reading of “Be Here Now”

As polarization, chaos, distraction, and loneliness seem to be proliferating around the world, simply being here now seems harder and harder to do. It’s hard not to worry about the future. For our families. Our friends. Of our world. Our species. So many within the Love, Serve, Remember community were initially drawn to Ram Dass, and thus Maharajii through this simple reminder that lovingly welcomes and draws us back into the now. It is our hope that a close reading of “Be Here Now” in this moment, will help us re-member the many lessons that continue to beckon us to Guru, to God, and Self. As well as the lessons that remind us of how to be as present and as conscious as possible during uncertain times.

The BIPOC Satsang has been formed to help build allyship and agency among people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color/world majority to foster greater connection, involvement, and representation around the teaching of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba.
For those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color, we invite you to this monthly virtual gathering to discuss unique topics and share your experiences and needs within the LSRF community.

I’m so grateful that the satsang with Ram Das continues. I’ve been connected to him since the 70’s. He even came to my high school in Oakland for a meditation class in 1973. We had our eyes closed and suddenly there was his wonderful voice.
Be Here Now was a root book for me like so many other friends.
