Rameshwar Das, co-author of Being Ram Dass, will talk with Christopher Walsh of the East Hampton Star about the newly published memoir of the spiritual teacher, who died a year ago. Ram Dass, formerly Richard Alpert Ph.D., was a Harvard psychology professor who partnered with Timothy Leary in psychedelic research, and later traveled to India and met a guru. He learned yoga and meditation which he brought back to the West, and in 1971 his groundbreaking book, BE HERE NOW, became a backpacker’s bible for a generation of spiritual seekers. Rameshwar Das is an East Hampton writer and photographer who knew Ram Dass for over fifty years.
