LGBTQ+ SATSANG: Swimming in the Spirit of Aloha with Lei’ohu Ryder and Maydeen ‘Īao

Ram Dass spent the last years of his life on Hawai’i, as he described it “one step from India.” Join us for a look at his relationship to the principle of Aloha, and hear from his dear friends Lei’ohu Ryder and Maydeen ‘Īao, who will share their love, blessings, and give us the essence of Aloha, love, and knowledge of Hawai‘i that can help us connect with ourselves and with Spirit. ‘Aloha’ is the Hawaiian word for love, affection, peace, compassion and mercy, that has a deeper cultural and spiritual significance to native Hawaiians beyond just a greeting, for whom the term is used to define a force that holds together existence.

Lei’ohu said: “Maui was Ram Dass’ final physical stop – being held in the arms of Maui. It feels like he was here to bask in Aloha, to feel the unrestricted deep honoring and resonance of a loving way, like the ocean waves, or the beautiful soft breezes from the oceans, or Makani (fierce winds). Being with him was a gift that blessed us constantly. His presence and the fertilizing essence of the spirit of Aloha blended well and held him in the womb of Maui.” Join us for a special evening!

LGBTQ+ Satsang Mission Statement

The LGBTQ+ Ram Dass Satsang’s mission is to cultivate loving awareness and heart connections in a community of kindred souls. We celebrate our unity in the full spectrum of gender and sexuality in and from a space of supportive openness.

GOALS:

• Create a refuge of satsang for LGBTQ+ individuals through the teachings of Maharaj-ji and Ram Dass

• Promote inclusive transcendence and self-acceptance of our human incarnation as members of the LGBTQ+ community

• Explore the intersection of seva/service & the spectrum of gender and sexuality 

• Hold a space for exploring being LGBTQ+ from the perspective of consciousness 

• Have a place to have a voice and be a valued part of the community  

• Remove barriers from LGBTQ+ identities within the spiritual world

• Help to generate a shift within the collective consciousness through awakening
