SUMMARY:Groundless and Boundless: Healing in Difficult Times with Ralph De La Rosa
DESCRIPTION: \nRam Dass taught that every moment is the perfect teacher. How is this possible when things are groundless – i.e. uncertain and constantly changing? How is this possible when we find ourselves anxious\, angry\, too tender\, or even working with big traumas? \nFortunately\, there is a way. A way to heal and thrive and even find joy in the most challenging of times – by uncovering the boundless qualities of the heart. \nJoin psychotherapist and author Ralph De La Rosa for an evening that will bring together the inner technologies of East and West. In blending processes native to both Tibetan Buddhism and Internal Family Systems therapy\, we will engage practices that slow down the mind\, open the heart of compassion\, and bring about clarity. \n\nRalph De La Rosa (he/they) is a teacher of human spirituality\, internationally published author\, and trauma-focused psychotherapist. Ralph began practicing meditation in 1996 when he first stumbled upon Ram Dass’s Cookbook for a Sacred Life in the back pages of Be Here Now. He was a student of Amma’s for 16 years\, has studied Buddhism since 2005\, and began teaching meditation in 2008. Ralph’s recent book\, Don’t Tell Me to Relax: Emotional Resilience in the Age of Rage\, Feels\, and Freak Outs (Shambhala Publications)was celebrated as one of the “Top 10 Books of 2020” by Mindful Magazine.

SUMMARY:Difficult Conversations and Identity
DESCRIPTION:The Black\, Indigenous\, and Person of Color Satsang have formed to help cultivate heart connection and allyship among people within the Ram Dass Community who identify as such. As an affinity group\, this BIPOC Satsang offers individuals with similar backgrounds who have historically been marginalized an opportunity to socialize\, share ideas and explore shared experiences \nAffinity groups are shown to be an integral part of creating an inclusive environment. Ram Dass said\, “We don’t try to deny or manipulate individual differences. We honor them\, in fact\, we seek them out—because we understand that before we undertake any serious social action\, we need a strong sense of who we are.” If you would like to learn more about the need for affinity groups and why we honor diversity within the unity\, please read this article by Ram Dass on Honoring Diversity within Unity. \nEach month has a different theme and topic. This month is “Difficult Conversations and Identity”. \nTo participate in this specific group\, you must identify as Black\, Indigenous\, or a Person of Color. If you do not\, please sign up for the general Satsang. \nCLICK HERE TO SIGN UP\, AND MAKE SURE TO SELECT “Black/ Indigenous/ People of Color/ World Majority” ON THE FORM UNDER “FELLOWSHIP GROUP OPTIONS”.\nOnce you sign up\, you’ll receive invitations and registration links for each monthly BIPOC Satsang event.

SUMMARY:Black\, Indeginous and People of Color Satsang - Monthly Topic: Helping
DESCRIPTION:Join in a loving community as we gather together for the Black\, Indigenous and People of Color Satsang.\nThis month we are exploring the topic of Helping.\nTo be of most service to others we must face our own doubts\, needs and resistances. Drawing on inspiration from the book How Can I Help? by Ram Dass and Paul Gorman\, we will share dialogue around the barriers to helping and how to be of the greatest service to humanity. We’ll discuss the way our learned models of the separate self and social conditioning have affected the way we give\, who we give to\, and how much we give. We’ll break down the basic inner obstacles that inhibit our caring instincts so as they rise to the surface we can bring them into the clear light of awareness to be of the highest and clearest service to others within our BIPOC community and beyond. \nThis fellowship is designed for folks who identify as Black\, Indigenous\, or People of Color to connect\, deepen and share. As an affinity group\, our hope is to create a safer space to explore unique and similar experiences and discuss needs outside of the general fellowship. To be a part\, you must identify as Black\, Indigenous\, or a Person of Color. \nCLICK HERE TO SIGN UP\, AND MAKE SURE TO SELECT “BIPOC” ON THE FORM UNDER “FELLOWSHIP GROUP OPTIONS”.\nOnce you’re registered\, you will receive monthly invitations and registration links for each BIPOC Satsang event. \nWe look forward to seeing you soon!

SUMMARY:WOMEN’S SATSANG: Integrating Intimacy and Spirituality with Zöe Kors
DESCRIPTION:Let’s talk about sex. As women\, we receive an endless stream of messages about how we should look\, smell\, taste\, and behave. Culturally\, we are objectified and hyper-sexualized\, and simultaneously shamed for having our own desire. There are so many influences on the way we experience our sexuality\, it’s nearly impossible to form an organically healthy relationship with this very tender but mighty part of ourselves. Guidance in the context of our spiritual communities is often lacking as well. It’s one thing to live a monastic life\, sequestered at the ashram in a life of devotion. But as householders\, sexual expression and sensual pleasure are necessary nutrients for a deeply nourishing life. \nJoin sex and intimacy coach\, author\, podcaster\, Zoë Kors for a safe\, inclusive\, and joyful exploration and discussion. Together we will talk about an integrative approach to sexuality consistent with the teachings of Ram Dass. \n  \nZoë Kors is a long time satsang member. Zoë Kors is a sought-after thought leader of intimacy and sexuality. Her book\, Radical Intimacy: Cultivate the Deeply Connected Relationships You Desire and Deserve (Hachette\, 2022) is available wherever you buy books. She is the resident sex and intimacy coach and contributor at sexual wellness app Coral and the former Senior Editor and Creative Director of LA Yoga Magazine In addition to a thriving private practice\, Zoë offers her services through Center for Relational Healing\, which specializes in the treatment of sex addiction and betrayal trauma. \nZoë holds a BA in Art History from University of Pennsylvania. Her post graduate work includes certification as a Co-Active Coach with the prestigious Co-Active Training Institute in San Rafael\, CA\, as well as dozens of programs and courses in sexuality and spirituality. Zoë is initiated in the Sri Vidya tantra lineage. Her work reflects her extensive study of Tantra\, Zen Buddhism\, Meditation\, Yoga\, Breathwork\, and other Eastern disciplines\, which she integrates with more process-oriented modalities of Western psychology and Co-Active Coaching. \nZoë currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband\, son\, and dog. She’s passionate about many things\, the daily ritual of French press coffee\, the New York Times\, and attending L.A. Galaxy games top the list. \n  \nFor those who identify as Women\, whether CIS\, Trans\, or non-binary \nWomen’s Satsang Mission Statement\nThe Women’s Satsang has been formed to help cultivate heart connection and allyship among people within the Ram Dass Community who identify as women\, whether cisgender\, non-conforming\, or non-binary women. As an autonomous group\, our purpose is  \n\nto deepen into the teachings of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba from a female perspective\n\n\nto foster connection and mutual empowerment within the Ram Dass Community\, and \n\n\nbring forward the wisdom of women for the benefit of all beings and the earth.\n\nOur Values include: \n\nLovingkindness\n\n\nHonoring relationality and inclusivity\n\n\nAllowing for ambiguity and mystery\n\n\nCelebrating the light as well as the dark\, embodiment as well as ascension\n\n\nBlessing the web of interbeing that connects us all\n\n\nRespecting people over performances \n\nTo register\, sign up for the Ram Dass Fellowship\, and check “Women’s Fellowship” under the Fellowship Group Options.  You will be added to the mailing list and will receive links prior to the event.

SUMMARY:GENERAL SATSANG: Cultivating the Heart
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is welcome for learning\, conversations\, and connection at the General Satsang. This month we explore our connection to heart and how to keep it juicy. Ram Dass says\, “the heart keeps a doorway into the unitive nature of the universe\, and it’s the love that flows through it.  The heart just keeps embracing and opening out\, so that things that open your heart open you out into the universe and allow you to experience preciousness\, the grace\, the sweetness\, and the thick interconnectedness of it all.” \nGeneral Fellowship Mission Statement\nThe general fellowship is dedicated to building community and connections around the teachings of Ram Dass and Maharaji. It provides opportunities to gather together – virtually and in person – to share our experiences\, inspirations\, curiosities\, and wisdom\, recognizing that we are all on the path of learning together. We use the space to celebrate and consciously practice the teachings – loving each other exactly as we are\, sharing our authenticity and truth with kindness\, remembering God is always here and present\, and feeding each other\, as we are all hungry for something and we all have something to give.  We meditate and chant together\, listen to Ram Dass lectures\, and discuss as a group.  \nEveryone is welcome.  \nTo register\, sign up for the Ram Dass Fellowship\, and check “General Fellowship” under the Fellowship Group Options.  You will be added to the mailing list and will receive links prior to the event.

SUMMARY:FELLOWSHIP LIVESTREAM: Psychedelics\, Mysticism\, and Religion with Madison Margolin
DESCRIPTION:Psychedelics might be where God\, science\, and policy meet. Scientists at the forefront of the psychedelic renaissance have defined the so-called “mystical experience\,” according to several qualifying criteria\, such as a sense of oneness or transcendence of time and space. What they’re finding is a correlation between the magnitude of a patient’s healing—when they undergo psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy for conditions like end-of-life anxiety among cancer patients—and the magnitude to which they have a mystical experience. It’s through this encounter with mysticism that scientists are seeing progress in their research\, and ultimately\, this mystical aspect to psychedelic healing will be part of the mechanism by which psychedelic policy and legality shift in the coming years. \nBut it’s more than that: Psychedelics are forcing scientists to grapple with what indigenous stewards of plant medicine have known since the beginning of humankind—that there’s a vital\, synergistic interplay among spiritual\, mental\, and physical wellness. What’s more is that the feeling of connection to community\, the cosmos\, the natural world\, and other loved ones that psychedelics engender shows a critical relationship between individual and collective healing. Psychedelics\, like spirituality and religion in its purest truest form\, have the potential to connect us back to our integral essence. Having grown up “HinJew” in the Maharajji satsang—where Ram Dass was a close family friend to my father Bruce\, a criminal defense lawyer who campaigned to legalize cannabis—I’m endlessly fascinated by how psychedelics can inform our sense of spirituality and connection to (or deviation from) religion. As a journalist\, I’ve explored this question in particular regard to the Jewish world\, seeing how entheogens like acid or ayahuasca\, are helping people reconcile their religious identities\, heal intergenerational trauma\, and even reconnect to Biblical traditions and ancient shamanic rituals involving entheogenic plants. From Judaism to Hinduism\, and everything in between\, religion can offer a framework through which to understand and foster expanded states of consciousness and ultimate healing. \n\nMadison Margolin is a journalist covering psychedelics\, cannabis\, spirituality\, and Jewish life. She is the co-founder of psychedelic magazine DoubleBlind and has written for publications like Rolling Stone\, Playboy\, and Vice\, among others. Also a co-founder of the Jewish Psychedelic Summit and host of the Set & Setting podcast on the Be Here Now Network\, Madison has traveled from cannabis farms in Northern California to underground ceremonies in Brooklyn to the shores of the Ganges River and all over Israel-Palestine\, reporting on the role of entheogens in religion\, culture\, and healing. Find out more about her work here\, or follow her on social media: Twitter\, Instagram\, Facebook. \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ SATSANG: Allowing Your Own Beauty
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes\, being who you/we are\, doesn’t easily fit into this binary\, either/or world. Our journeys into living/being our full selves\, our unique gender identities\, sexual orientations\, can often be an integral part of our spiritual journey.  \n“So I think that being gay {LGBTQ+}  in this society at this time has a psychic cost to it that can be seen from a spiritual point of view as a nurturing process in spirituality\, because in a way it keeps you separate from a certain identity with the mainstream culture\, and that helps free you\, which is part of the whole spiritual journey.” – Ram Dass \nShana and others from our LGBTIQ+ Satsang\, will talk about their journeys\, and how these connect with the teachings of Ram Dass. \n“You are loved just for being who you are\, just for existing. You don’t have to do anything to earn it.” Ram Dass \nFor those who identify as LGBTQ+. \nLGBTQ+ Satsang Mission Statement\nThe LGBTQ+ Ram Dass Satsang’s mission is to cultivate loving awareness and heart connections in a community of kindred souls. SUMMARY:WOMEN’S SATSANG: Living & Dying with Care with Aditi Sethi
DESCRIPTION:Death is a reminder to live more fully.  Ram Dass said\, “Death is our greatest challenge as well as our greatest spiritual opportunity. By cultivating mindfulness\, we can prepare ourselves for this final passage by allowing nature\, rather than Ego\, to guide us.” Join in loving community with the Ram Dass Women’s Satsang to discuss living and dying with care. \nAs many know\, being a supportive presence to those suffering with terminal illness is both heart-wrenching and invaluable. And it can bring a sense of connection to the humanity in ourselves and others\, as well as investigate fundamental questions of existence such as “Who am I?” and “Why am I here?” \nYet\, a pervasive fear of death is reinforced by our culture\, and didactic medical training does little to prepare medical professionals\, or anyone else for that matter\, to actually deal with the fullness of those who are dying. \nTo move from the focus on the business of dying to the art of being with dying\, and to restore deep respect to death care\, we need to examine our own relationship to death and reflect on how our life experiences affect the care we offer others during an intensely transformative time. Understanding our individual reactions and how they impact the dying experience of those we care for can remind us of a powerful but subtle truth: death is a mirror in which our own lives are reflected. \nJoin the Ram Dass Women’s Satsang and Aditi Sethi MD\, a hospice and palliative care physician and end-of-life doula\, as we explore how we can embrace the divine feminine as we live our lives with awareness and presence and approach “letting go\,”/ “death” in all its forms. \nAditi Sethi\, MD is a hospice and palliative care physician\, end-of-life doula\, musician and executive director of the Center for Conscious Living & Dying\, Inc. Soon to be featured in the forthcoming film The Last Ecstatic Days\, Aditi is an emerging and important voice for shifting our culture’s understanding and approach to dying\, death\, and bereavement care.   \nWomen’s Satsang Mission Statement\nThe Women’s Satsang has been formed to help cultivate heart connection and allyship among people within the Ram Dass Community who identify as women\, whether cis gender\, non-conforming\, or non-binary women. As an autonomous group\, our purpose is  \n\nto deepen into the teachings of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba from a female perspective\n\n\nto foster connection and mutual empowerment within the Ram Dass Community\, and \nbring forward the wisdom of women for the benefit of all beings and the earth.\n\nOur Values include: \n\nLovingkindness\n\n\nHonoring relationality and inclusivity\n\n\nAllowing for ambiguity and mystery\n\n\nCelebrating the light as well as the dark\, embodiment as well as ascension\n\n\nBlessing the web of interbeing that connects us all\n\n\nRespecting people over performances \n\n\nTo register\, sign up for the Ram Dass Fellowship\, and check “Women’s Fellowship” under the Fellowship Group Options.  You will be added to the mailing list and will receive links prior to the event.

SUMMARY:BIPOC SATSANG: The Importance of Truth
DESCRIPTION:Maharajii not only urged his followers to love everybody but also to always tell the truth. This adage feels more important than ever as we’ve entered an era of post-truth politics. The BIPOC community has historically been forced away from truth in order to survive the onslaught of imperialism\, colonialism\, racism\, and genocide. During this Satsang session we will seek to explore how the trauma of falsehood is interwoven into the intergenerational trauma we face on a daily basis\, and how we can break these cycles in order to bring about a more honest world. \nFor those who identify as Black\, Indigenous\, or People of Color.  \nBIPOC Satsang Mission Statement\nThe BIPOC Satsang has been formed to help build allyship and agency among people who identify as Black\, Indigenous\, or People of Color/world majority to foster greater connection\, involvement\, and representation around the teaching of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba. \nTo register\, sign up for the Ram Dass Fellowship\, and check “Black/ Indigenous/ People of Color/World Majority Fellowship” under the Fellowship Group Options. SUMMARY:GENERAL SATSANG: Navigating Fear with Compassion
DESCRIPTION:When you are fully present in the moment\, there is no anticipatory fear\, no anxiety\, because you are just here and now\, not in the future. When we are resting in our souls\, death is just closing a chapter in a book.\n– Ram Dass” – Ram Dass \nWe live in the midst of great change of social tension which confronts our egos with fear. How we work with our awareness in the face of that fear determines whether we can bring healing to the situations we encounter. As we open our hearts and learn to be present with what is\, we can show up on the human plane with compassion and empathy without burning ourselves out. We can also learn to keep a tendril of connection to a bigger picture. \nIn this month’s Ram Dass Satsang virtual meetup. we will discuss how to live with more peace\, compassion\, and awareness in the face of fear. \nGeneral Fellowship Mission Statement\nThe general fellowship is dedicated to building community and connections around the teachings of Ram Dass and Maharaji. It provides opportunities to gather together – virtually and in person – to share our experiences\, inspirations\, curiosities\, and wisdom\, recognizing that we are all on the path of learning together. SUMMARY:Encuentro Virtual de la Fraternidad Ram Dass: Navegando el Miedo y la Compasión

SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ SATSANG: Swimming in the Spirit of Aloha with Lei'ohu Ryder and Maydeen ‘Īao
DESCRIPTION:Ram Dass spent the last years of his life on Hawai’i\, as he described it “one step from India.” Join us for a look at his relationship to the principle of Aloha\, and hear from his dear friends Lei’ohu Ryder and Maydeen ‘Īao\, who will share their love\, blessings\, and give us the essence of Aloha\, love\, and knowledge of Hawai‘i that can help us connect with ourselves and with Spirit. ‘Aloha’ is the Hawaiian word for love\, affection\, peace\, compassion and mercy\, that has a deeper cultural and spiritual significance to native Hawaiians beyond just a greeting\, for whom the term is used to define a force that holds together existence. \nLei’ohu said: “Maui was Ram Dass’ final physical stop – being held in the arms of Maui. It feels like he was here to bask in Aloha\, to feel the unrestricted deep honoring and resonance of a loving way\, like the ocean waves\, or the beautiful soft breezes from the oceans\, or Makani (fierce winds). Being with him was a gift that blessed us constantly. His presence and the fertilizing essence of the spirit of Aloha blended well and held him in the womb of Maui.” Join us for a special evening! \nFor those who identify as LGBTQ+ \nLGBTQ+ Satsang Mission Statement\nThe LGBTQ+ Ram Dass Satsang’s mission is to cultivate loving awareness and heart connections in a community of kindred souls. SUMMARY:FELLOWSHIP LIVESTREAM: Navigating the Human Predicament with Duncan Trussell
DESCRIPTION:“The game is not to push away the world\, the game is not to get caught in it—the game is to\, as Christ said\, ‘Be in the world\, but not of the world\,’ to be simultaneously empty and full\, to be somebody and nobody. It’s all these paradoxes you have to embrace. There’s nothing to do\, so get on with it.” – Ram Dass \nDuncan Trussell joins the Ram Dass fellowship live stream to offer insight and wisdom about the paradoxes of being human on a spiritual path. \nAll of us seem to be born into the experience of separateness – complex ideas about who and what we are. The conditioning that comes along with that sense of “somebodiness” is what we are each contending with virtually all of the time. It’s our curriculum\, and everybody’s enrolled. The least we can do is acknowledge or remind ourselves that this is part of the predicament of being human. \nThis “being human” and embracing our humanity might very well be one of the paradoxes of life that leads us back to our ever-present soul and sense of oneness with the whole. With authenticity and humor\, Duncan explores the paradoxes of living in the world today on many channels simultaneously – body\, personality\, ego\, soul. \nDuncan Trussell is an American actor and stand-up comic\, known for his podcast The Duncan Trussell Family Hour. He appears on the Netflix series The Midnight Gospel. Known for his esoteric beliefs and his openness and honesty\, he embodies the spirit of both Ram Dass and Maharaj-ji and speaks often of their influence during his podcasts.

SUMMARY:BIPOC Satsang: The Importance of Truth
DESCRIPTION:Maharajii not only urged his followers to love everybody\, but also to always tell the truth. \nFor those who identify as Black\, Indigenous\, or People of Color \nBIPOC Satsang Mission Statement\nThe BIPOC Satsang has been formed to help build allyship and agency among people who identify as Black\, Indigenous\, or People of Color/world majority to foster greater connection\, involvement\, and representation around the teaching of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba. \nFor those who identify as Black\, Indigenous\, or a Person of Color\, we invite you to this monthly virtual gathering to discuss unique topics and share your experiences and needs within the LSRF community. \nTo register\, sign up for the Ram Dass Fellowship\, and check “Black/ Indigenous/ People of Color/World Majority Fellowship” under the Fellowship Group Options. You will be added to the mailing list and will receive links prior to the event.

SUMMARY:Women's Satsang: Friendship & Service with Dassima Murphy
DESCRIPTION:Ram Dass said\, “The most important aspect of love is not in giving or the receiving: it’s in the being.” \nMark your calendars and be IN the love of community with the Ram Dass Women’s Satsang. This month we are joined by Dassima. She was Ram Dass’ chief caregiver\, personal assistant\, and manager of his house and staff for fifteen years from 2005 until his death in 2019. She devoted her life and service to this friendship\, and is joining the Women’s Satsang to share personal stories from their time together and to highlight the themes of friendship\, service\, and devotion. \nDassima served as Ram Dass’s primary caregiver and assistant for the last 15 year of his life. Her time serving Ram Dass was the most meaningful and fulfilling period of her life. \nShe still resides at the Ram Dass’ house on Maui\, where she serves as president of Hanuman Maui: The Ram Dass Loving Awareness Sanctuary. When Ram Dass dropped his body in 2019\, his energy and heart-space remained. Hanuman Maui was formed to preserve his house and property as a spiritual sanctuary. They continue to share Ram Dass’s legacy on Maui through kirtan\, meditation\, personal retreats and special events. \nOriginally from the Philadelphia area\, Dassima worked as a Director of Human Resources till 2005. During that time\, she dedicated herself to the Zen tradition\, regularly hosting group practices and attending meditations retreats. \nShe first encountered Ram Dass in the early 90’s and dedicated all of her free time to attending his retreats and contributing to the Ram Dass Tape Library. After decades of dedicated study to Ram Dass’s teachings\, it was the honor of her life to care for Ram Dass and deepen her experience of devotion through selfless service. \nFor those who identify as Women\, whether CIS\, Trans\, or non-binary. \nWomen’s Satsang Mission Statement\nThe Women’s Satsang has been formed to help cultivate heart connection and allyship among people within the Ram Dass Community who identify as women\, whether cisgender\, non-conforming or non-binary women.
