Honoring the One Year Anniversary of K.K. Sah Passing

Find K.K.'s Hanuman Chalisa & Photo Memorial Below

K.K. Sah was a lifelong devotee of Maharaji and a close family friend of Ram Dass since he first met Maharaji in 1967. It was K.K. who served as Ram Dass’ translator when he communicated with Maharaji, and took Ram Dass into his home and introduced him to Indian family life.

K.K. passed away at his home in the town of Nainital in Northern India on January 14th, 2020. We are eternally grateful to K.K. for being a living example of unconditional love and devotion. He was a mentor, friend and brother to all.

On the one-year anniversary of K.K. leaving his body, we are honoring his memory and his love by releasing a Hanuman Chalisa that was recorded at my father's farm in Abecorn Quebec in 1974 on KKs first trip to North America. This beautiful rendition of the Chalisa by KK is accompanied by an exquisite slideshow of some of our favorite moments together throughout the years.

We knew him as a family member - someone who brought us into the heart of their loving Indian family. Ram Dass brought that love back to the West and shared it with us, inspiring us to travel East to meet K.K. and our guru, Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaji) who changed the direction and karma of our lives forever.

K.K. once wrote, "Love can conquer everything. It is the best medicine. It can take you to God because love is God...Love is the one motive power that pervades the entire universe – unattached – yet shining in everything and without which the whole universe would fall to pieces in a moment."

K.K.'s heart lives on through his family, friends, famous storytelling and Bhajans that connected him so deeply to God, and showed us what pure unconditional love looks like.

Namaste,

Raghu Markus

LOVE AT THE ROOT – THE DEVOTION AND WISDOM OF KK SAH

To begin with, there might not have been a Neem Karoli Baba (Maharajji) Satsang in the West without KK. When Ram Dass first met Maharajji, KK translated for him. Then Maharajji told KK to take Ram Dass home. He took Ram Dass not only into his home but also into his family and his heart; they bonded instantly... Continue Reading

REMEMBERING THE LOVE OF K.K. SAH

Enter into an Indian family and then you can understand love. Love does not wait for logic and is the easiest path of all. The first test of love is that it knows no bargaining—true love cannot exist in an arrangement by two parties. Love is always the giver not the taker... Continue Reading

SHARANAGATI: THE TRUE MEANING OF SURRENDER FROM THE BHAKTI YOGA TRADITION

In the West the word “surrender” means the act of yielding to the power of another or the acknowledgement of defeat. This does not, in any way, reflect the true meaning of the process of surrender in the Hindu spiritual tradition. As far as my own knowledge, I have not found an equivalent English word for the process which, in Hindi, is called sharanagati – the process of surrender... Continue Reading
