BIPOC Satsang: Love as Resistance, Love as Liberation

What is the most radical act one  can take in a world that seems to be progressively defined by radicalism itself? By intolerance, violence, hate, and polarization? To love despite it all, to allow one’s heart to crack open again and again. But while many of us are hopeless romantics — idealists, dreamers, lovers — we are not all Ram Dass. So we have yet to place our “enemies” upon the altars of our hearts. How might we get there? The first step in this journey, as always, is to remember that the only way we can truly help others —help the world — is by working on the self. This month we will gather together to remember just how radical it is to love one’s self. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Especially for those of us in this world who have been taught we are less than simply for existing. To love radically does not simply mean we join hands and sing kumbaya however. For unconditional love requires toughness, work, and a willingness to fight for something bigger than self. Come join us in community to learn the self defense of love.

The BIPOC Satsang has been formed to help build allyship and agency among people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color/world majority to foster greater connection, involvement, and representation around the teaching of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba.

For those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color, we invite you to this monthly virtual gathering to discuss unique topics and share your experiences and needs within the LSRF community.
