Please God” — what do these two words mean to you?
They could be a request. A desperate call out to the divine asking for help. “Please God, let me get this job. Let me find love. Help me learn to heal…”
But spoken with a slightly different inflection, this same pair of words becomes a directive. What can we do to please God? Maharajii told us all, through Ram Dass, that in order to do so we must love everyone and tell the truth. This feels particularly hard even within a single family — let alone with everyone — especially given the state of the world.
And so we find ourselves returning to the other side of these two words, asking God for the very assistance we need to do what God asks of us. Please God!
This month, we will sit with the paradoxical nature of this phrase as it relates to the teachings of Maharajii. How might we always remember to look to God in order to please God? And how might that pleasure simply be a measure of stepping into our fullest, calmest, most present selves?
