LGBTQ+ Satsang: Coming Out, Coming In — The Journey to the Self Behind It All
June 8 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm PDT
“Coming out is a spiritual act. It’s about truth. When you hide something about yourself, you separate yourself from the One.” — Ram Dass
Join the Queer Satsang for an evening of bold heart-opening, fierce compassion, and radical spiritual inquiry. This special evening will include shared reflections, a powerful short teaching from Ram Dass, and an invitation to walk together toward a deeper truth—the one that transcends all labels.
Snippets from Ram Dass:
- “When you come out, you are offering love to the world by being who you truly are. That’s what heals others too.”
- “I used to think I had to choose — be gay or be spiritual. But now I see, it’s the same journey. Love tells the truth.”
- “As a result of being caught with another fellow in prep school, I was completely ostracized – nobody would speak to me for about a year. I’d walk into a room and all the kids would stop speaking. I couldn’t tell my parents, so it cast me way back inside myself; it drove me inward.”
- “So I think that being gay in this society at this time has a psychic cost to it that can be seen from a spiritual point of view as a nurturing process in spirituality, because in a way it keeps you separate from a certain identity with the mainstream culture, and that helps free you, which is part of the whole spiritual journey.”
- “I have experienced that there are personality characteristics that I recognize in the homosexual community that… and I don’t think it’s so unique to homosexuals, but it’s clear in that community that there are feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness. So when somebody labels you in a derogatory way from a social point of view, there’s a way in which it’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy.
- “I applaud the removal of that stigma I struggled with so much. Sexual confusion, especially in the teenage years, is more natural than I knew. I take comfort in younger generations that celebrate the rainbow of sexual expression.”
This is not your average satsang. It’s a space of deep connection, wild truth, and sacred curiosoity. Come laugh, cry, reflect, rebel—and love louder than ever before.
