![Peggy Hitchcock, one of Ram Dass’s oldest and dearest friends, departed from her body peacefully on Tuesday, April 9th. After her death, Peggy’s close friend Judy Margolis reminisced in a text, “Can you only imagine those two magnificent souls (Ram Dass and Peggy) free of their bodies, having so much fun, creating love, luminosity, and blessings for us?”
As long as Ram Dass and Peggy knew one another, that was the cornerstone of their relationship—having so much fun, creating love and luminosity for all.
For 58 years, Peggy evolved alongside Ram Dass. Peggy was a part of Ram Dass’s psychedelic adventures at Millbrook—the estate that her family rented to Ram Dass, Tim Leary and the gang for $1 a year.
Up until the very end, Peggy visited Ram Dass twice a year on Maui, beaming light and love into Ram Dass’s life. Even after Ram Dass’s passing, Peggy continued to honor Ram Dass’s legacy by making yearly pilgrimages to Hanuman Maui. Her infectious enthusiasm catalyzed countless adventures up and down the Hana Highway. During every visit, her heart sang tales about visits with the Dalai Lama, and insights from her tremendous philanthropy work.
Peggy’s essence was a light that shined on the deepest part of Ram Dass’s being, and while she will be sorely missed, we know that her soul’s off to the next great adventure.
