BIPOC Satsang: The Search for Common Ground

January 22 @ 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm PST

In honor of Martin Luther King and his legacy following MLK Day, we will be diving into the teachings of one of his mentors and inspirations – the theologian and Christian mystic Howard Thurman. Through his teachings, and sermons at Howard University and Boston University, he had a profound influence, both intellectually and spiritually, on an entire generation that became the main leadership of the civil rights movement. And it was during Thurman’s trip to India in 1935, during which he met Mahatma Gandhi, that the principles of nonviolence were incorporated into the African-American freedom struggle. During this satsang we will dive into texts, teachings, and sermons, and explore the conversation between Christ consciousness and Maharajii. For remember, it was Neem Karoli Baba who once said: “Meditate like Christ….he lost himself in love.”

For those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color.
