Women’s Satsang: The Gifts of the Ancestors with Mirabai Starr

October 16, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm PDT

We know ourselves to be souls, but we typically identify most strongly with our personalities. And a large part of our personalities is the product of the patterns and conditions we inherited from our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and beyond. Unfortunately, we tend to focus on the problems, addictions, and dysfunctions that our ancestors passed down. Still, it is essential to acknowledge and honor the many gifts, talents, and competencies they bestowed. This is part of our “curriculum” as well.  Join the Women’s Satsang and Mirabai Starr in a meditation and dharma talk as we honor and discuss the gifts of our ancestors.

Mirabai StarrMirabai Starr is an award-winning author of creative non-fiction and contemporary translations of sacred literature. She taught Philosophy and World Religions at the University of New Mexico-Taos for 20 years and now teaches and speaks internationally on contemplative practice and inter-spiritual dialog. A certified bereavement counselor, Mirabai helps mourners harness the transformational power of loss. Mirabai met Ram Dass in 1975 at the Lama Foundation when she was 14 and has been a devotee of Neem Karoli Baba ever since. Her latest book, WILD MERCY: Living the Fierce & Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics, was named one of the “Best Books of 2019” by Spirituality & Practice. She lives with her extended family in Taos, New Mexico, home to the Hanuman Temple and the only Neem Karoli Baba ashram in the West.
