BIPOC Satsang: Remembering in the Midst of Fear

“Faith is taking the first step, even when you can’t see the whole staircase” – Martin Luther King.

This January, in honor of Martin Luther King day we will take this quote into consideration and contemplate what it means to maintain faith in the midst of navigating the unknown. Often times it is our inability to know or see what is coming next that pushes us into fear based living. Will we be safe? Will the bills get paid? Will they love me back? Will I accomplish anything? Where does the staircase lead? Our hope is that this time of reflection will also be a time of sharing. A time in which the Satsang can share what faith means to us, and how we each work to take the first step on a daily basis.

A devotee and Maharaji once drove down a road and were quickly stuck in traffic. They were in a rush, and the devotee worried they would be late. Maharaji told him to close his eyes and hit the gas. Let’s ride! And help each other trust that we’ll come out on the other side.

The BIPOC Satsang has been formed to help build allyship and agency among people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color/world majority to foster greater connection, involvement, and representation around the teaching of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba.

For those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color, we invite you to this monthly virtual gathering to discuss unique topics and share your experiences and needs within the LSRF community.
