LGBTQ+ Satsang: Surrendering in Sadhana

“If you try to dilettante your way through, it doesn’t work. You’ve got to become ‘a meditator.’ But if you end up ‘a meditator,’ you lost. In our meeting, we will discuss, in community, the challenges and pitfalls of practice we encounter on the spiritual path. How do we start and sustain daily practice and rituals? How do we avoid the risk of becoming trapped by our practice, yet approach it with reverence and hold it lightly? When do we know when to dig in and double down, and when to let go and acknowledge the flow of life? How might we respond when doing the practice produces unexpected or unfavorable results? These and the myriad challenges and joys of regular practice will be the substance of our discussion. We will seed the meeting with materials and open-ended questions, and we ask folks attending to bring their own stories and questions around this topic.

LGBTQ+ Satsang Mission Statement

The LGBTQ+ Ram Dass Satsang’s mission is to cultivate loving awareness and heart connections in a community of kindred souls. We celebrate our unity in the full spectrum of gender and sexuality in and from a space of supportive openness.

GOALS:

• Create a refuge of satsang for LGBTQ+ individuals through the teachings of Maharaj-ji and Ram Dass

• Promote inclusive transcendence and self-acceptance of our human incarnation as members of the LGBTQ+ community

• Explore the intersection of seva/service & the spectrum of gender and sexuality 

• Hold a space for exploring being LGBTQ+ from the perspective of consciousness 

• Have a place to have a voice and be a valued part of the community  

• Remove barriers from LGBTQ+ identities within the spiritual world

• Help to generate a shift within the collective consciousness through awakening
