What's true?: Ram Dass speaks about cultivating compassion throughout ones spiritual journey. Ram Dass meets so many old souls and realizes that when he teaches, he doesn't feel like the teacher, but they are all just reminding each other what's true. "He who knows does not speak and he who speaks does not know" is what Ram Dass reminds himself every time he speaks. It's the space between the words that teaches. He thinks in the future they will all get together and just sit in silence for three hours and think that's very profound. He keeps trying to become divine. The harder he tries, the more letters he gets thanking him for being human.

8/23/69. New Hampshire. When you meet someone with compassion, they care about you whether they agree with you or not. That kind of compassion only comes through non-attachment. Compassion only happens when you're not attached. Your way of seeing is just as much of an illusion as their way of seeing. If you want to get close to someone else, go to your own center.
